Plastic Guard Attached to Skid Plate

I was crawling around underneath my recently purchased 2007 SR5 and noticed there is a plastic guard attached to the skid plate that looks to be badly mangled. There is only 3-5 inches of the plastic guard still intact, so the question is should I replace or remove and never look back? How long is this piece normally and what is it meant to protect?

Are you be referring to the oval shaped plastic access cover below the oil pan drain plug?

No, the oval shaped acces to my drain plug is though the metal skid pan. I'm looking for a description/purpose for the plastic extension that bolts to the rear of the skid pan.

Got a '07 SE here. Quick look, I would say 8-9" long. Not sure if it would make a difference, maybe someone else will chime in on this.

Howdy neighbor! I was also crawling around under my recently purchased 2006 Sport and was looking at that same part. It's about 8-9" like "ran" said and is probably there to limit how much stuff gets kicked up at the trans pan. You could always fab up a little something of your own or get the skid plate that I dream about from Bud Built!

Congrats on your purchase... I love mine and can't wait to get crackin' on some mods!
