Plated bumper with Tundra Coils???

Hey folks,

As the Title of this thread implies, I'm looking to hear from those of you with Tundra Coils and a plated bumper on your rig, and how functional it is.

Also, I was wondering if anyone knew how much a plated bumper usually weighs??

I'm looking into either replacing my dented bumper with a Custom plated one or depending on cost and function, just an upgraded 99+ stock bumper.

Still not sure which way I'm going to go, but so far I know I can get a plated bumper like Pikeman's for the same price he paid, only in Canadian Dollars! The guy would paint it for me as well, in any color I wanted, and would powder coat it for an additional $150.00.

I could easily handle my ARB by myself so I would guess it weighs close to the same as Pikeman's, ~90 lbs or so. I would say most front plate bumper will be in the <100 lbs. range without a winch.

Not sure how the Tundra coils will handle the weight, I would say the ARB and my Budbuilts dropped my 883s ~.5". I would figure a winch with steel cable would drop it another .25-.5"

The Shrockworks bumper is 120 with full top hoops. The ARB and mine are both 90lb so figure somewhere between 90-120lbs and your average winch with steel cable is another 80-90lbs. Your coils should handle it but will probably go down about .50-.75 inches. This is one reason I am a bigger fan of the threaded body design instead of the C-clip version Bilstein coils.

Thanks for the input guys. I would have liked to get the threaded bilsteins, but it wasn't in my budget at the time. I'm currently having issues fitting my 33's without removing my mudguards, so the additional weight won't help matters???

I'm still thinking of going the stock route, if it's cheaper, but so far the Stealership wants $1500.00 for the entire front bumper assembly, and that's not counting signal lights!

Whats the problem with just going with the Bilstein tundra shocks and going a clip or 2 up from the bottom so .65 or 1.3 inches of lift? I have an ARB bumper and thats what I plan on doing in a month.

The only issue with what you suggest is that I have just purchased my current lift......

No, I mean the chrome piece, the lower valance, the upper valance, and the bumper brackets= $1500.00! That's way more than I want to pay!!

That being said, the parts guy from Toyota, told me I could go to this local autobody supply store and get the pieces there........but apparently the chrome doesn't last as long.....

Thanks for the link man! I found a hood scoop on there too, but $300.00! Crazy! So far, the cheapest bumper I found is here locally for new OE replacement pieces...but still waiting to hear from my connection at the autobody repair shop.......for a used one.

dang $450 ,if youre gonna spend that much you should just get an addicted offroad tube bumper like jon has, or wait a while and find a used arb. That bumper isnt in that bad of shape and if you put another stock one on its just gonna get banged up again.

I took it on a ride on the weekend, did a water crossing which had some floating ice, and smashed the chrome piece!

By the time that Addicted Offroad bumper gets shipped here in Canada, it will cost me just as much as the plated bumper (Shipping is crazy to Canada)......and the plated bumper would be built by a friend of mine, who also does top notch work......
