Evening folks. I’ve recently acquired a Megamat 10 Duo LW+ for use in my 5th gen. I currently have the lowpro platform to level the cargo area. I’ve spent hours digging through the various builds on the site and would love to hear a quick high level comparison between the folks who have built taller platforms with/without drawers included. If I can get the majority of my gear stored at a lower platform height I.e. level with top of wheel wells, that’s value added in my book. 6’ tall and would love to have a little headroom, which is why I went lowpro in the first place. I quickly realized the lack of storage was my Achilles heel in this config considering I currently do not have outside storage.

If a sleeping space only 43" wide at the legs is acceptable, you can get both headroom and interior storage by putting a sleeping pad on the floor and storing stuff on shelves. The first two shelves run along the sides of the cargo area, just over the wheelwells, about 11" off the floor. They can each be up to about 8" x 48", depending on your needs. They can be securely installed with L-brackets that bolt to OEM threaded holes in the sheet metal sides of the cargo area. To access these attachment points, you would need to remove the lower panels that cover the wheelwells. For extra strength, you could put legs directly under the interior corners of these side shelves.
The third shelf spans the space from the driver's side wall to the passenger side wall, so it can be say 18" x 48". This main shelf is about level with the lower edge of the rear window, about 21" off the floor. Its four corner legs rest on top of the two side shelves.
When sleeping, your legs would be below the main shelf and your head near the front seats. This gives you the maximum headroom.
