Platinum Edition - Why not on the 4runner

First of all, I currently have a Platinum Tundra and a Limited 4 Runner. I also used to have a Platinum Sequoia.

1) Those were nice for the kids.
2) Limited 4 Runner has heated and cooled seats
3) Limited 4 Runner has those
4) Personal Opinion.

For the 2014 models the LIMITED 4 runner has more options than the Platinum Tundra. The Sequoia used to have way more, but it's also priced quite a bit higher.

Aspects of Limited 4 Runner > Platinum Tundra:

- Better sound system hands down. It might just be the acoustics of the SUV body, but between the two it's not even comparable.

- Better stock headlights. The H4 crap put into the Tundra's were terrible I had to do a retrofit as I couldn't see at night.

- Tundra's don't have the advanced key

- The dash display (between tach and speedo) is awful in the tundra.

Overall I prefer my truck now but it took some work. The platinum badge on the Tundra's is useless.

1) Those were nice for the kids. I have kids, that why I like them..

2) Limited 4 Runner has heated and cooled seats, I have not seen a single 4runner that has heated and cooled front AND rear power seats seats.

3) Limited 4 Runner has those neither of my 4runners have heated mirrors, both of our Lexuses have them and it woul dbe a nice standard option.

4) Personal Opinion. Agreed

You sure about that? My 2012 Trail does. There is only 1 part number for mirror glass, and 2 possible mirror wire harnesses, 1 with turn signals, 1 without, both have the heater circuit.

You guys who want more are no different than the guys who want 5 speed manual and crank up windows and rubber floors.
They make vehicles with all the bells and whistles.
They make vehicles with no bells and whistles.

Why buy something and wish it were something else? Life is too short for that. Be happy or change it up. Buy a Cadillac or a Lexus or a Mercedes. If you want a Platinum specific buy a Highlander.

And a little cooling coil under it would be nice, too.

And a scarf rack running along the front of the headliner would be nice too. That way I could hang every one of my commemorative Survivor scarves on it and just grab whichever one suits my fancy for that day. Today, it would be Merica.

Why didn't Toyota think of this, I have no idea.

It does. All North American destined 4Runners have heated mirrors. There is no separate switch for those but Rear Window defrost turns Mirrors heaters on at the same time.

Saying we need Ultra Luxury 4Runner is just as bunkers as saying we need Hybrid 4Runner. If I want Lux I'll get GX460 or BMW X5. I would totally miss the point but it will be comfortable. On second thought: NO F@##ing Way. Leave those niceties to self indulgent pricks who want to look cool and pretend they can drive to the top of the mountain while sporting 22in rims and nausea inducing monster subwoofers.
