Please double check my lift choice

As the title states, I'm for some help finalizing my order.

I have a 98 limited 4x, V6, with no extra weight. I'm looking for a 3"ish lift with some rake. (2.5 front and 3" rear). It needs to be comfortable ride because this is my DD.

So here's what I've came up with.

Front: OME 881s, Tundra 5100s (24-188265), and diff drop.

Rear: OME 890s, Tundra 5100s (24-1000144), and new 3/4" bushings for lower shock mounts.

My main concern is the front. I know a lot of guys really like the TRD coils with the Tundra 5100s, but not sure about 881s. I just don't want to spend the money on TRDs if 881s will work.

Any and all advice on what else I should get or look at instead would be greatly appreciated!

Take a look at the eibach coils. Im really pleased with how mine ride and I dont have any extra weight out front. Ive heard both the trds and OMEs are stiff without added weight

Thanks for the input. I'm just worried they'll be a lil too tall. Sitting level or even a lil taller than 890s in back. What are you running in the back?

Edit: Sorry I just looked at your build. See you're running 906s with 4th gen ranchos

I just put the OME complete kit on mt '02 with the same coils you're looking at. My T4 now stands exactly 3" higher all the way around, with a 1/2" rake that I think looks great, and I'm usually not a fan of that stance.

the ride: front rides perfect with the OME shocks- nice and firm, very little body roll or braking nosedive, not too harsh but still rides like a truck. very stable.

The rear is WAY too stiff. I went with the firm valved 60028 OME shock(steel bumpers and building a cargo box) and I feel like I may as well have just welded steel bars to the shock mounts. gonna put Bilsteins in the rear next spring.

I think pairing those coils with the tundra Bilsteins is a great choice. I had 5100s on my '04 vehicle and loved the ride.

Great to hear, thank you!

I'm surprised/worried that I haven't been able to find more guys using this combo. They usually have what you do or a Tundra TRD/890 combo with these shocks.

Honestly I think if you went with either eiback coils/bilsteins or OME coils/bilsteins you would be happy, and I doubt there would be much noticeable difference between the two.

if you wanted a softer ride you could always go with LC coils. Pretty sure Dirtco had LC rears but ended up swapping them out for OME because the ride was crap at high speeds.

Thanks again, I went ahead and pulled the trigger! I got everything off of Amazon minus the diff drop for $690 out the door.

any chance you can post your order page from amazon? For $690 I might just do the same thing.
I would if it was all on one order. But they split my invoices up because they're coming from different places.

For the 5100s search the part numbers I posted, and Daystar KU08007BK Black 3/4" I.D. For lower bushings. For the coils search ARB 2881 and ARB 2890. Once you click on the item be sure to look at all the sellers to get the best price.

I also used my Amazon c/c for an extra 3% off bringing my total to $670ish [emoji4]. So that might be something you want to look at also.

$690 is really good for a complete lift. For future reference, junkyard stock Tundra coils can be used for the front with the Bilstein 5100's to save a bit of money.

Crappy ride at high speeds? His issue was other factors. Not the LC coils. I've been in ome and lc rear 4runners. Lc coils are so much better offroad on the street or highway. Even loaded to max I have no issues and have gone on 1400+ mile road trips.

interesting. good to know! I'll have to go back and read that section again but I thought he said the LC coils were too soft for high speed wheeling and highway use because of the weight in the back. I dunno, lets just say I was drunk when i wrote that.

No I believe he did say that but I still believe he had or has other issues. SS is all about safety and use ability in his lift kits and all utilize LC coils. I could see it being an issue if fully loaded and rear bumper with tire carrier. I have loaded 400+lbs on stock bumper fine.

Loose rear end is usually caused by removed rear sway bar. Non adjusted panhard. Worn control arm bushings. Bad or too soft shocks. Once I fixed all that my rear is solid.

I have been in few lifted 3rd gens and still think lc coils with tokicos is best. Lc coils on Billy's is a little soft when adding weight.
