Please help after changing the OEM to a Diehard battery some function stop working.

Greetings:

After changing the original battery of my 2004 (October 2003) 4Runner Sport Ed due to difficulty to start in the winter with a Diehard Gold. I lost some functions. For starter, the driver side window automatic up and down; however, after several try it starts working again. Now I realize that I also lost the rear defogger, rear windshield wiper and rear windshield fluid spray. What am I missing? Am I frying the ECU by changing the battery? If so, is this normal?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

CHeck your owners manual or search this site for: initialize. This is normal after a battery disconnect. Basically, just run your windows all the way down, then all the way up. This includes the sun roof too.

Is it "initialize" or "normalize?" Either way, he's right, that's all you have to do.

Thank you for your help.

I've looked at the initialization procedure. Apparently, it is for the Windows (driver side and rear hatch), and sunroof. But it doesn't mention anything about rear defogger, windshield wiper and washer fluid spray. Are these problems tied to the windows? Anyway, I am going to give it a try tomorrow.

Initialize the sliding roof by pressing and holding the TILT UP switch until the roof glass tilts upward fully (the roof glass automatically tilts downward slightly after fully tilting upward). 3. Release the switch. 4. Check that the “AUTO OPEN/CLOSE” function operates normally.
