Please help me get this bulb out!

So I'm a noob to stunners but not at all to cars...

I'm trying to remove the drivers side FRONT signal light. How the F does this thing come out?? It does to seem turn like all the other cars lights that I've worked on...

And also, what kind of bulb is it?? (the small one in the corner) I've tried searching and can't find anything but rear bulb replacement stuff...

OSRAM SYLVANIA - Replacement Guide - Start

Turn the bulb socket counterclockwise. You may have to gently pull and wiggle it as the rubber o-ring often gets stuck in the housing.
 
And don't be surprised if the bulb burns out again in a short time. Often the socket needs replacing.
 
or just spray the connector with contact cleaner. No problems with mine the last 6 months.

I did not disconnect the battery, just loosen the hold down and tilt the battery away. that was enough for me to reach in there. Go with contact Cleaner first, saves you a lot of time.
 
I was able to reach in from the front (where the grill would be) to reach that socket. When you finally get the bulb replaced, give it a firm push into the socket. I was surprised how hard I had to push to get it to click in.

If you can't get your arm/hand in there because the battery is in the way then you will have to remove the battery hold down and move the battery a little until you have room for you arm/hand. If there is still not enough room, you will just have to disconnect the battery and remove it completely from the vehicle.

Yes, underneath. Guess what? You can replace other items by getting underneath the vehicle (yes, said with heavy sarcasm :)) I've replaced both my sockets in the past month and did it in the stealership parking lot in 2 minutes. No battery removal, that's crazy talk...

What year is your 4Runner? From reading your first post I assumed that you were talking about your "Turn Signal" bulbs, which on 2003-2005 models are in the bumper and accessed from under the front of the vehicle.
When you referred to the battery being in the way, it now appears you are talking about a 2006-2008 model where the turn signals are mounted in the headlight housing.

There is a yellow bulb in the 2003 headlight assembly. I am having the same problem trying to get it out. I did not think to try from underneath so I will give that a try.

My fat stubby hands just dont fit in that confined space.

This is indeed the problem. It's my girlfriends 4runner and so I can't exactly look at it all the time. I DID NOT KNOW that the signal light was in the bumper, I thought it was the small orange bulb that is in the top outside corner of the headlight.

I will now get the correct bulbs and get it done in about 2 seconds I believe.. haha. Thanks for the help guys. It's hard to figure out when she's out of town with the 4runner....

What you are talking about is the amber colored "side marker lamp". Yes it is tight fit because the socket is in the upper corner of the headlamp housing and the inner sheet metal is very close. I have smaller hands and can remove the socket with the battery in place, but it's not easy to do. You will either have to find someone with small hands to help you or you will have to disconnect and remove the battery so you have more room to work. If after removing the battery you still cannot get your hands/fingers in that tight space you might try gently gripping the socket with a pair of pliers, turning the socket counterclockwise and pulling it out of the housing. Everything is plastic so be gentle.

Yes, the small amber bulb in the upper corner of the headlamp housing is the "side marker light".
 
Luckily I had to get another can. Auto Parts store, ask for CDC QD Electronic Cleaner. Basically something for cleaning sensitive electronic equipment. Some Office Supply or Equipment places will have it also. My '07 is still on all original bulbs, just clean the connectors. good luck, ran
