Please help me I have line busted and leaking

Well this should have been a post of joy since I was able to remove the antenna motor and clean it out and get it prepared for the new mask, but turns into a cry for help. As I was getting ready to work on the antenna motor I realized my Runner is leaking a pink fluid.

I'll start off with and last night where my Runner was close to overheating. I noticed the needle was climbing into the red rather quickly. I pulled over, let it cool off and checked the coolant tank which was dry. I picked up some at the gas station I stopped in at and put some in.

The pics will show you what I found today. Please tell me what it is, how bad it is and what it's going to cost to fix it. HELP ME....

Those look like transmission fluid lines. They go to and from your radiator to cool your transmission fluid. Check the color of your trans fluid, it should NOT look like a pink milkshake.

It looks like your transmission fluid cooling lines are badly rusted and are leaking.

I may be wrong, but to me, that fluid you found on the floor looks a lot like ATF mixed with coolant. You should drop your transmission fluid pan and have a look. Like what the above post said, you should NOT find a strawberry milkshake like liquid. Not to scare you, but if you do have the milkshake, you will either have to flush the transmission or if that doesn't work, you might have to swap the tranny. Sorry, man!

That looks too watery to be ATF. Looks more like Toyota factory red coolant and likely from the rear heater lines. Low coolant would also explain the overheat. Pull the trans dipstick and see if it looks good then check the coolant level in the radiator when the engine is cold to prevent burning yourself. Trace the lines back to the motor. If it was mine I would just bypass the rear heater lines back at the engine.

If yours is equipped with a rear heater, then it is your rear heater lines that are leaking. Your dealer will have (or can order) them. They are not too bad to change, and for the meantime, bypass the rear heater up in the engine compartment just like the last post said! P.S. your tranny lines run right along side the tranny and engine, the ones you showed are running along side the frame on the outside of the exhaust, right?

That looks like the rear heater! Be advised, this is a NASTY repair for any tech so be prepared if the quote goes up and don't be surprised if it does, broken bolts and the labour time to drill them/extract them adds up!

Well thank you to everyone who chimed in and helped. Yes it was the rear coolant lines that were bad. Well $470.00 later she is all better. Damn I need to find a good local mechanic.

You got me nervous. I just looked at mine ('99) and after 10 years and 120K in salt-happy New Jersey they are pristine. They are black colored and zero rust. Do you live next to the ocean or a paper mill or something?

I just bought the truck about a month ago and it's previous owners were from UPPPPstate NY. I think near buffalo area.
