Please Help Me With My '94.

Gotta '94 with the 3.0 V6 that fires right up in the morning but doesn't like to start when out & about. Usually have to sit for a bit till it'll fire up. It tries to start but acts as if it's flooded. Experience a loss of power on the way to work almost every morning as if I backed off on the gas pedal. Did a complete tune-up on it 3 months ago and it ran good for about 2 months. Had a shop run a fuel pressure test on it & was told it was alright. It's currently at an exhaust shop to see if the catalytic is clogged.

Sounds like a cold start injector is not shutting off.

EDIT: I do not know much about the 3.0, but if I had that symptom on my 4 cyl. motors I would fire it up in the morning then drive it until I noticed that it seemed like it was running too rich. At that point I would pop the hood and disconnect the cold start injector from the wiring harness then continue to drive, if it improves immediatly then the cold start injector would be at fault.

I sort of have the same problem except reversed. When I first got my 93 4Runner V6, it fired up real nice in the morning when the cold start injector worked. After not being driven for 5 months because of my accident, it hesitates in the morning.

The idle is supposed to be higher than normal when the engine is cold, but when it's at normal temps, it fires up normal right? How do I go about fixing the hesitation in the morning?

I would like to point a finger at the cold start injector switch or also know as the cold start injector timer. Better than fifty percent of the time these cold start drivability and hot soak problems are because the coolant temperature switch that controls the cold start injector is faulty. The are capable of turning on the CSI when hot causing a flooded start, and not turning on the CSI at all causing a long crank cold.

Would this be the Cold Start Injector Switch? I found it lying loose next to the Fuse Box.

Hope it's the culprit? Been chasing ghosts & replacing parts with no success.

Where is the cold start injector timer located? It sounds like that could be the part that gets me runnin" right finally. Just yesterday I put a new distributor in & cut the cat off & it barely got me back to the house.
