So, i have been noticing some sputtering/rattling coming from the engine when accelerating, mainly in 3rd or 4th gear, (5sp manual - 3.4L) The plugs, wires, and ignition coils are all recently replaced, and the truck has been running great since their replacement. Could this be a cracked head? i haven't noticed a change in power yet, but the rattling and sputtering seems to be getting worse

Is it coming from just one side? It is most likley just a cracked or leaking exhaust manifold, crossover or flange. Look closley at both manifolds and see if you can pinpoint the leak.

I never thought of the exhaust! I'll be back home on saturday and that is the first thing i'll look for - thanks!

So I got back to town and drove the truck around and have some more information - the rattle sound is only around when the clutch is engaged, this made me think that either there is a problem with the transmission, or when load is on the engine something weird is going on with the engine/exhaust systems. The noise is kinda like what you would hear if you put a dice in a coffee can and shook it around. And then, when i slow down it sounds like I have a flat tire. It is very strange. I am still investigating, if you have any ideas let me know-Thanks guys!!!
PS - I got a ScanGauge II for my birthday and this thing is so cool! check out scangauge.com
