Please recommend an aftermarket front bumper for 3rd gen

I don't know why people think ARB is the only bumper that is air bag compliant, they are just the only company big enough to crash a truck with one of their bumpers on it for testing. Don't buy into everything you read, they are selling a product just like everyone else.

In Australia bull bars have to be tested and certified not to interfere with airbag operation. Only companies that do (and can afford) that testing can sell them there. That might be an example of government overreach (we would consider it so here) but it's why ARB does the testing. (google ADR 69 and ADR 73). No mom and pop shops there since most wouldn't have the engineering or budget for the compliance. ARB crash tests a LOT of trucks for testing, since they make bumpers for a lot of different models.

Problem I've seen with ARB is that they are only 1/8"....plate bumpers less than 3/16" generally get dinged up pretty bad if you play in the rocks.

After having wrecked my 4runner and landing on the corners of the bull bar on both sides of the ARB bumper I decided these bumpers are amazing. I am super impressed with how well they are constructed. In fact I bought another one.

All i gotta do is cut the "caps" off the bottom frame thing and then it slides right over, correct?

Yes, On mine (but not the same for others). I had to cut a 1x2" notch out of the new cross member to it my ac infront. But yes that's what I'm running. Trail gear.
