we just found out today that my dad might have cancer-he has to have more tests on monday-he is 70 years old and never been to the doctor in his life and has smoked for 50 some odd years. his health has been getting bad the last few months and finally we talked him into going to the doctor.

My prayers and thoughts are with you. As a physician, just want to let you know that we have come a long way in treating/diagnosing cancer. Don't let that word discourage your father from getting any treatment that may be beneficial to his care. I hope everything works out for the best for you.

update

he has a large tumor on one of his lungs and has to have a biopsy friday. he'll get the results on monday and get a course for treatment. thanks for your prayers

I hope everything works out for your dad, he will be in my prayers. My dad just recently went through a prostatectomy. He's recovered, taking it easy, but more tests to come.
