Pods
They are a very good way to save money when compared to 'traditional' moving services. If you call them ahead of time, they will drop off an empty pod (container) at your home or office location. You then have plenty of time to fill it, seal it (they can be locked) and notify them that you want them to pick it back up.
They will then transport it to wherever you need it, drop it right there on the property and you can them empty it at your convenience. When all is put away, you call them again and they send out a boom truck to take the empty container away to be used elsewhere by someone else.
There are plenty of competititors to PODS - namely PackRat; so you can probably shop around for a good price. Some outfits can even store your belongings in a climate-controlled warehouse during a long overseas deployment, etc., etc.
Good luck!
P.S. My old roomate used PODS when she moved out seven years ago. She was very happy with their service, even though the move was only ten miles at the most. It was cheaper and easier than renting a Penske truck or hiring a moving crew.
