YES!!!!!!! Do not get the Kenwoods and mix with Polks. I just got the db400's for my '95 4Runner. I went into the store, since I live here in Charlottesville and the problem with the Polk db400's is a depth clearance of .21". It is because the tweeter has a grille over it. It will make the kick board speaker cover bow a little or you can ground down the inside of the kickboard/speaker cover or pry off the Polk tweeter grille. It has nothing to do with the performance of the speaker and will not effect it at all. In the back, I was going to get the db650s also, but you have the woofer on the sides of the back panel and the tweeters above the back window facing towards the front. I got the db6500s. Get them right now because they have the buy one pair of Polk and get a second pair 1/2 off. So the 6500s were 199.00 and the 400s were 40. Nice set of Polks for $240.00 and they sound real nice. I listened to them in the store and the salesman said the only other pair he would recommend with the Polks were the Infinity's. He switched back and forth between the two and the Infinitys had more highs, but it was real tinty and not as clear. In the close quarters in the car the Polks should deliver a clearer and more precise sound. I also got a Profile amp to power them. The AP1040 was out of stock which is what I wanted, but he gave me an AP1070 for the same price so I have an 80 by 4 channel amp powering them. The Profile amp has 0.05% distortion and good sound quality. For the money, you can't beat it. I paid less than $300 for a 200W X 2 AND 80W X 4 and both of the amps have a distortion level of 0.05%. These amps are rated at 14.4 volts, so the wattage is what it is and not more. Other manufacturers rate their amps at 12 volts.
Call Crutchfield in Charlottesville and ask for Azmir Yousef in Car audio. Tell you have a 4Runner and you want to get the Polk db400s and he'll probably tell you just the same as me. He is the one who helped me get everything. He told me and showed to me the issue with the 4Runner front speakers.
