Polk MoMo 6.5 install question

Has anyone installed the Polk MMC6500 into the front doors of a 4th gen? Any installation pearls or pitfalls you can share with me? I have the Scion T1806 HU and the stock fronts are whimping out. Also going to buy a 10" Polk MoMo sub and amp for the rear. Any suggestions on where to install that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking.

Momos in doors

I just installed the same set in my '07 along with a full deadening of the 4 doors and a new Alpine amp.
I think these Polks are a great set of Components although I don't think your going to realize their potential with out an amp of at least 70 watts per channel.
On installing the set, you will need to fab or buy some 5 x 8 to 6.5 adaptors and some tweeter mounts. I purchased my set of Polks from Crutchfield in VA and they provide the 5 x 8 to 6.5 mounts free with the purchase. I still had to make the tweeter mounts..Easy. I had some inductive noise with the cross overs in the kick panels so I moved them under the seats and everything is perfect now.

Strong advice and no, I wasn't until you, and others, suggested it. I'm going to buy a single amp to run the two fronts and this Infinity Ref 611a to power the sub. Many I've spoken with have suggested leaving the rears alone for now to see how they fill with the fronts and sub done. My intention was to get some high quality replacements that can be better amp'd and dialed in later when I replace the head unit years from now, oh...and sound much better than what the factory gave me.

I'm going to look for a good price on this Polk C400.4 and use it to amp the two fronts for now. Think that'll work? I'm a total audio newb here so your advice is invaluable.

Amp in mine

In my '07, I'm runnung an Alpine Head unit with a 4 channel Alpine amp. The amp powers the front Polk 6.5s with channels 1 & 2 and the 3 & 4 are bridged to power a single sub. The head unit internal amp powers the rear door speakers.

There are also 2 channel amps that can be run as 3.

Nothing too different with the MOMO 6.5" anymore than any other "higher-end" component system...

My suggestion would be to amplify them with 75w or higher (to each channel)

Some dynamat, and some speaker baffles would help with your mid-bass / sound quality too..and they dont cost much..

I have the C400.4 momo 4channel, powering just the front speakers (each channel to each tweeter / mid-driver) and it sounds incredible IMHO.

What the amp does, is take speaker leads directly from each tweeter or mid-driver and powers them seperatley..

This does mean you will need to run new speaker wires, but its well worth ditching the passive X-OVER to do so..

The highs are very cool (not too bright or tinny) and the mid-bass comes through excellent..

Its nice not having the passive crossover which, again IMO messes with the sound quality...

Oh, and about your subs FYI...
find a sealed box that is
