Duratracs. I have yet to see anybody with them in town.
There is a local T4R that has 285 / 17 Duratracks with Spidertrax wheel spacers, and they look fantastic. In person they look more of a MT than AT. The owner is a serious off roader and raves about the tires both on and off road.
I've also seen the BFG's on several trucks although but no Runners. They also look very nice, but have virtually no siping. The Duratracks get very good reveiws for rain and ice driving, but it's hard to imagine the MT's won't have some issues sliding in the wet. The drivers I've talked to about them are high on thier performance on dry roads.

New to the forums as a soon-to-be-owner, but I've had such great experiences with Nitto Terragrapplers (285/60/18) on my Vehicross that I figured I'd chime in here.
I'm on my second set; I got a whopping 75 thousand miles+ out of the first set before I killed 'em. Mostly daily driving, of course, but they also saw their fair share of crappy dirt roads, driving over crap I wasn't supposed to drive over, ice, snow, sleet, and general nastiness. Even in the blizzards up here this year, they never let me down or got me stuck. Good off-road and on-road - they're some good tires.
Just my penny-and-a-half,

I vote NTGs! Wanted them for my truck, but they did not come in the 255/75/17 that I wanted. From what I read about the NTGs, they have good on-road manners and fit my bill for mild off-roading.

I'd like to submit a 5th option...Hankook Dynapro ATMs. That's what I'm getting. My second choice is the Toyo Open Country. If I'm not allowed to scr ew up the poll, I'll vote for the Nittos.
ha i think im the one that said for you to get them... my bro has em on his tundra and they do great but i want more aggressive for more rear wheel traction

well couldnt order any today as my boss couldnt get pricing. he will get them on monday when i drop by. i can get the bfg's for super cheap, and can get them soon. he doesnt know about how cheap i can get the others yet, although TG's will be fairly cheap, i really want the duratracs but reg price is like 268 in 305's. we confirmed the new size after getting off the phone with goodyear. will have to see on monday. i dont want bfg at's cause i have never been impressed with them really and everyone has them, i wanna stand out a little and its not like i cant get a tire that performs better then them. only thing that keeps me iffy on km2's is not good in ice and snow but we get VERY little of it here but when we do (3 times if lucky in a year) its fun to play in but other then that i dont need to worry.

ahh i cant decide! km2 or duratrac. im back and forth
one minute km2 the next duratrac, i live in sc so i dont have to worry about ice and snow but a few times a year
but then i say well im afraid i wont be able to drive then with km2's and i change my mind
then i say i want duratracs and then i think they will be too expensive so i switch back
ahhhhh i just want something (to put it in simple terms) i want something with a sh1t ton of traction and grip off road and that wears good. oh what do you know they both do. im so undecisive for all i know tomorrow ill be driving home with an order sheet for some effing khumos or yokohamas cause i change my mind so much. please help me decide. i think my decision is really just riding on whats going to be the cheapest and right now i think its the km2's that will be cheapest but i have to see how close the duratracs come and ill make my decision from there.

The Duractracs and the Dunlop Maxx Tractions totally blow the KM2s away in the snow, but the KM2s are better off road. Keep in mind, the Duratracs are still pretty good off road but there is really no comparison for winter traction.
I had the Dunlops and they were equally as awesome in the snow as the Duractracs (next best thing to having chains on), but the lugs are pretty close together and do not eject mud very well and become slicks pretty easily. I did not like the off road ability of the Dunlops so I got Maxxis Bighorns and they are cheap and they kick ass on dirt and snow.
I can't imagine with the much more tamed tread pattern that the Nitto Terra Grapplers would be compare in snow or dirt.
