So, I just bought a relatively high mileage, but in absolutely pristine condition 99 SR5 4WD, and everything about it is fantastic, but I'm noticing particularly poor fuel efficiency. there's no check engine light, previous owner just had the headgasket replaced and I had a full inspection done. Everything about it is awesome, anything you all have to say?

Winter gas, BUT 2 more months to go and we'll be done with it.

Winter fuel has a higher percentage content of ethanol, which is not as efficient as gasoline. Winter gas= bad fuel efficiency. Also try a bottle of injector cleaner, seafoam, change oil, change spark plugs, clean air filter. After all that and with summer fuel mixtures, you should be back up to 19-20 or so.

u didnt say how bad your mileage is. maybe youve been driving a 35mpg civic and now this heavy pig only gets 15 its just not what youre used to? i get anywhere from 14-19 btw

In Cali the max amount of Ethanol that can be put in gas is 10%.There is a difference in summer and winter gas but its not Ethanol content its butane. I dont notice a difference in gas mileage from summer to winter in my 99.
