Poor reception 05 JBL system

After spending a few hours running searches on Google and here I have found many people complaining about poor reception in a lot of newer Toyota models, but no fixes.

In our area we pick up at a minimum 7-10 clear channels anywhere in town normally, the 4 runner picks up about 1-2 clear. All the others are full of static or won't come in at all. This is the first vehicle I have owned with this issue.

Is there a fix for factory systems with reception aside from adding a mast style antenna? Thank you guys for any help. :)

Anyone? My dealership states it is functioning as designed, but I would like to improve it.

If no one knows, I will just start testing out solutions.

You may have a bad antenna amplifier.

Is this an easy item to swap out? I will start doing some searches online here to find more info as well. Thanks for the response.

Have you actually looked behind the HU to make sure that both antenna plugs are in?

No, not yet, I wanted to research first before pulling the stereo. I am under warranty so if it is nothing obvious I will take it in.

Been a while since posting this originally, but I never did find a fix.

I am tempted to split the signal from the factory inputs out to a hard mounted antenna on the fender.
