Poor tires on 2010 Trail Edition

I picked up my new 2010 salsa red Trail Edition in January, and I love the truck. I spend every summer on the road out west, and I had the truck off-road a lot, and it performed beautifully except for the tires. Okay, seasoned off-roaders would say that I shouldn't expect much from those stock Bridgestones, but why would Toyota put such crappy tires on a vehicle that is being pushed as very off-road-worthy? I will get better tires before next summer, but it still bugs me. Through my summer travels I had three flat tires, all on separate tires, and the worst I subjected the truck to was rough dirt/gravel roads - no rock-crawling or anything like that. My last vehicle was a 2002 Rodeo, and in 160K miles (including a lot in the rough) I had a single flat tire. I am really disappointed in the stock tires on my otherwise wonderful 2010 TE.

because they are cheap! The TE should have BFG all terrains like the FJ Trail.

bridgestones? don't complain, i got dunlops with my sr5. and their green just like the tennis balls. they suck

Toyota has been slapping dunlops on the 4Runner for generations and they have horrible performance. I wonder if the Bridestones perform better on road and help smooth out what some might consider too much of a truck-like feel.

I was going to chime in on how bad the DunFlop GrandTrek tires were - but see other beat me too it. I went to the Michelin Cross-Terrains - for on road driving. The old Dunflops would not keep a balance and you could see the rubber wear off them.

Same here, 30 miles on a dirt forest road this weekend and bamm a flat tire. This is a road where I saw numerous Camry's coming up, plus people pulling 30' camping trailers---------piece of cake right? not so for the stock Dueler H/T POS. If they can put decent tires on the FJ, why not the Trail Edition?.......I'm pissed and heading to the tire store as we speak
