Poor Volume with XM and PIE on a 2003

Hey Guys

I need some help. I just installed the Pioneer Inno XM/MP3 player in my 2003 SE. I used the PIE adapter I found out about here. I had Best Buy put it in, very clean install. Now the problem:

1. The sound output is lower than the radio or cd at the same volume level, any ideas as to why? I have the output volume at the max coming out of the Inno. I also have some slight static at full volume.


Any ideas on how to increase the volume or get rid of the "whine" you hear at higher volume levels?

The PIE adapter may be whats causing your problem, it could be turning down the sensitivity due to poor quality of wires and/or connectors.

The noise your hearing...does it fluctuate with engine speed?
Also, is it noticable when the volume is down?

That could very well also be the XM radio signal, or the 3.5mm plug coming out of the XM..

I've got my XM hooked up with a PIE adapter and the volume is lower than the radio and cd. The sound quality is fine, I just have to turn up the volume. The whine you are hearing is interference from the engine. I had a problem with engine whine when I first installed mine because I wrapped up the excess cable that goes between the PIE and the XM unit. I unwrapped the cable and it was fine. You could also try to install a ground loop isolator.
