Popping and resistance when turning

Hey everyone, having a problem when I am turning while driving. When the wheel is being turned back to center, at about the 10 or 11 o'clock position, the wheel gets stuck, there is a loud pop from the passenger wheel well area and the resistance goes away after the pop. It doesn't do it when I'm not moving so it is very hard to diagnose. I pulled the boot off the inner tie rod and everything looks fine.
The following have been replaced within the past 6 months:
Lower ball joint
Lca bushings
Cv axle rebuilt
Wheel bearings
Calipers/rotors
Inner/outer tie rods
New uca and bushings about 1 year ago

I'm not really sure what else it could be. When I have it in the air and turned all the way to the right, there is a little bit of flex in the steering shaft when I push on the tire. The rack doesn't move, just the shaft. Not sure if that's normal or how tight the tolerances should be for that. Any help would be appreciated. They are the oem shafts that I rebuilt

Not to sound like an ass, but did you have any left over parts from rebuilding them? Where did you get the instructions to rebuild them. A binding CV joint could be an issue if you took the birdcage out and such.

Just asked my buddy that helped me with them and he said he only did the inner joint on them because that was the only boot that was torn. Could it be the outer joint going out? It should still be the oem boot on it since we didn't rebuild that one.

Bump, any other ideas? Took the front end apart a little bit and everything feels good as far as mobility of moving parts. Nothing was binding on its own

Hang a video camera from front bumper and take video. This is what I had to do find a similar popping problem that only occurred at a certain turning angle in parking lots. In my case, turned out to be the front forward aftermarket camber bolts I used on new lca's. Bad design, fixed by using OEM camber bolts. Drove me crazy and took a month to find after trying a couple of fixes, including a new cv axle.

Just a thought, but have you had the lower steering shaft checked? It is a common problem for the u-joint in this shaft to rust up and bind during steering. Lift the front end off the ground and try moving steering back and forth. If there is any binding, (especially from center off, then try hosing the u-joint with a good penetrating lubricant and let it sit a bit. If the binding lessens, that is probably your problem.

i ran into a similar issue on a 3rd gen. turned out to be a failed cv that was binding. pull the cv in question and if it isn't smooth rotating.
