Popping from front left

So after changing my oil yesterday, today I am getting a "popping" feeling from my front left drivers side area....but only when I make a left turn. I only changed my oil and put everything back like normal. Is this a CV or LBJ? Both have been replaced.

Make sure your LBJ bolts are cranked down to the appropriate torque.

Could be a CV going out, but more likely a worn out tie rod. You should be able to jack the car and and push side to side on the wheel/tire. If there is a bunch of play then it would probably be a tie rod. Would be a good idea to replace both inner and outer on both sides of the car

Hmm...all tire rods were recently replaced. Steering bushings most recently. LBJ was tighten to specs. Might be the CV. I've had alot of issues with them.

Did you take off your skid plate when you did your oil? Maybe it's loose.

Why would you say it's the swaybar?

I recently switched all the front busings to poly including the swaybar and now I'm getting a pop or clunk when turning sometimes. I've been trying to figure out where it's coming from but haven't had the time to truly look into it.

when was the last time you had the LBJs replaced? This pop or clunk only when turning is a usual occurance when they go out. There's more stress on the LBJs when turning, so they pop in the cradle they sit in when thier worn out...

If its coming from your drivers side it could very well be the steering rack. Check out this thread.

It could also be inner or outter tie rods as mentioned. Its not the sway bar links unless it just broke off and is hitting the frame. I would bet on the inner tie rod or steering rack

I say swaybar too ... especially if you just messed with the bushings. Mine did the same thing and it happens when there is play between the little pillow bushings and the hole on the swaybar. I solved this by cutting up an older bushing into two bushings. Then I put this in that gap, and then passed the bolt through the whole sandwich. No more noise.

This is usually caused by overflexing of the swaybar links. We just need to remember to disconnect one side of our swaybars when offroading.

steering rack or sway bar

I didn't mean to hijack this thread but I think mine is either the steering rack or sway bar bushings. I'm going to tighten the sway bar bushings a little more and see if that helps. It pops both turning left and right but only if there is a bump or small hill like at a driveway. Makes me think sway bar. I greased the crap out of them because I didn't want them to squeek, but they may not be tight enough. According to the book the torque is like 16 inch lbs or something tiny like that so I didn't want to really go nutz on them.
I have new lower ball joints and tie rod ends on order and I'm replacing them when I do the shocks and springs (lift) if this heat lets up. I figured it's easier to do it all at once and my steering rack bellow is ripped too.

Right now I am driving without the sway bar and no skidplate and have yet to hear or feel a pop....so hears to hoping it was one of them. I have new brackets in for the swaybar and hope to put it on today and put the skidplate back on. So we'll see what hapends after today.

LBJ's were replaced about 4-5k ago. still need to do the uppers.

Id say swaybar too.

Just disconnect it and see if it goes away. If not, then look elsewhere.
