I was pretty amazed on how much the bodies and frames flex on these 4runners.

Especially given when you land on the rear bumper. Yours was pushed into the body as well.

Mine was pushed a full inch into the same section even with frame tie-ins. I plan to produce frame plates for these at some point to help stiffen it up so this doesn't happen anymore.

The earlier frames are MUCH stronger than the newer stuff.

I am curious if Brian has the same issue with his front ARB. I bet he does.

Man, those three Runners together look amazing. Nice work showing off the flex potential of these rigs. Saw your pic posted in the other thread. I'd rally out there in a heartbeat with you guys if I were down there, but I'd probably be off messin' around on the boulders. No way I could pass that up.

Yeah, the ARB flexes too. I have about a .75" gap and I've seen it flex enough to prety much close the gap. The rear CBI bumper flexes ~.5" up or down too.

We pretty much found the rest of the trail this time around. I'm still a little confused on where the middle section of Bullfrog is and I think we still ended up on Cakewalk again for a little bit (??), but we're getting to know the area better. Jason has a pretty good grasp of the area after yesterday. We'll definitely have to go out there with you next time, you'd have a blast out there!

not there in person is it "flexing" or "pivoting"?

just from the pics it doesn't look as if the bumper it's self is flexing as much as pivoting around the mount axis, but then again that's a pretty stupid thing to try and judge from these pics.....

but there is a very big difference between pivoting and flexing....

just wonder what you guys thinking about this, is it the bumper flexing ?
are the attachment points to far back and not placed correctly so it pivots?

or it that the actual frame of the truck flexing?

not making any speculations or comments on the quality/build of the bumper , i'm just wondering whats going on here, i'm just an idiot who likes to know/learn stuff, so if you guys can tell me whats going on in the pic that would be sweet

Definitely frame flexing. I have 16 bolts attaching my rear CBI bumper to the frame rails (10 along the bottom and 6 horizontal) so it's not pivoting. The rails themselves can move about .5" up or down independently.

Hot stuff. driffter's bumper needs a little more clearance in order to not act like a bulldozer on that incline! lol

I wish I lived around big rocks......the only thing I have to look forward to is days like today with 6+ inches of snow. And maybe a little mud in the spring and summer.
