lol, what do the wheels have to do with anything? I never mentioned them in that context. I do run 17s in the winter, but I don't notice a difference either. I suspect the difference in mpg is due to the full-time 4wd and extra weight associated with the LE. I found the SR5 pulled itself along more effortlessly, again probably because it has 2wd.When I got rid of my 20's and put SR5 wheels and stock size on I saw zero difference in mileage. Driving in Cali versus Canada probably makes a bigger difference.
As for the fuel, each regional jurisdiction imposes their own rules. California does not require ethanol in gasoline, but neither does Nova Scotia. Some stations in Nova Scotia do have ethanol gas and I understand it's widely used in California. Our local refinery actually refines gasoline to the same standards that is required in California so I can't imagine there is much difference.
The mountain passes and elevation changes on those Cali highways is way more significant than anything I see around here.
