Possible ball joint issue?

I was standing on one of my rear tires yesterday washing the roof and the tire moved a bit in an in and out fashion. Kind of like a thump thump sound. Don't believe the other tires did this.

Is this an issue I need to get looked at? A friend said it could be a wearing/failing upper ball joint. Just want to check with you all as well.

Not to worry - all it is just a drivetrain (half shafts, ring gear or drive shaft). When you jumped on the tire and got it to turn slightly until it stopped by gears thus clunk.

To clarify what Ripcord is saying. The rear axles on our trucks are solid axle and do not have ball joints. Only the front end has ball joints.
