Possible cheaper way to get a hood with scoop

I like many others on this forum realize their mistake too late and we should have gotten a pro or trail but really want that hood with the scoop on it. (don't care about the glare). But talking to a couple stealerships and they are quoting me around 1k with the product, molding, and paint ect. But when i do a simple google search for 4runner hood scoop this pops up.

Still missing some hood components but looks pretty good to me. $100. marked down for 473$.

I know it still needs paint (and maybe more). Is this really the deal I am looking for, or snake oil? and what is the average cost going now days for a small section of paint and wax???

I went this route on my old SR5. Bought hood on eBay, bought the "guts" from an online parts place (about $100), my dad painted it. He painted it several times to get the exact match. The paint and clear coat isn't cheap. Labor isn't cheap either. You're probably looking at $1000.

Dang. Aftermarket fit may not be the best, but it's pretty good these days. Almost worth ordering one and hoarding it away for when I really need one.

I've bought an aftermarket hood for a Taco, worked out well. With paint and everything I was out the door for around $500. This would be less.

Not sure I understand the concept of making a vehicle look like something its not by adding badges, hood scoops, TRD bling etc. But it's your $ - have you tried auto salvage yards or finding someone to trade with?

That's funny. What's the point of Toyota putting a fake scoop on a 4Runner? Talk about looking like something it's not.

Dude, your ride looks awesome without the scoop. And in San Diego where the sun is out 8 months of the year (unless you're in that marine layer), the glare is kind of a PITA -- I never gave it a second thought, but when it hits, there's very little you can do about it. I'd say keep it as is...it's a cleaner look.

Yes! The half inch narrower wheels with the unprotected valve stem and delicate finish and P-metric tires is the most important part.

I was pretty tempted to pick this up, I bailed on as I was entering my billing info. I could paint this my self, depending on the color and age (fading) material costs wouldn't be too bad if you could do it yourself.

After looking at some pics I don't think the scoop makes enough of a difference... Looks like a good deal, I'd like also like to see how it fits if the gap between the fender and hood is as good as the factory with out a whole lot of work. Same with the front...

Honestly, you're better off trading someone with the same color. The swap will be direct with the only hard part being the logistics of said trade. There are hoods to be had, check the buy/sell threads.

Agreed. I also hate the fake intake things around the fog lights. The truck would look classier without those.

I've been to junk yards, I've looked for months on the forum to try and find someone willing to trade in SoCal. At this point my goal is 600-700$ range and I would be happy with that. Wanted to hood scoop for awhile. Thanks for the help and info though. Some good sources.

I ordered a custom hood scoop fit (from Ebay: MrHoodScoop painted HS-002; $320.00) for my 2019 T4R with custom matched paint. I attached it to the hood myself without any problems. It looks awesome and I no longer cringe with hood scoop envy when I see 4runners and Tacomas with the hood scoop. I am new to this forum but I will attach before and after pics of my work. My neighbors who saw me attaching the scoop are also lost in admiration for the more aggressive, sportier look. They love it just about as much as I do. I was also willing to part with $1,000 to change out my hood but I tell you that you can do it yourself and you will also love your new hood scoop. Let me know if I should go through the trouble of attaching pictures.
