Possible fuel leak? Help

for the past two weeks or so whenever I drive my 4runner I have caught a whiff of gas it wasn't until about a week ago that I put it together that my car is the one putting out all the fumes. Nothing is obviously leaking from the under body, there are no drips besides the AC fluid. I would love some help on whether this is possibly a hose or connection of some sort that I could fix on my own or do I need to have a professional check it out. Please also remember that I live in Hawaii and the price of anything a mechanic does is at least 30% more than on the mainland. I have been sharing a car with my wife for the opast week, please help us get my car back.

As far as fixing the leak, I can't say I have encountered anything that is really difficult to repair when it comes to fuel supply lines. Just follow the fuel lines, while the key is on (I believe the system is pressurized when the key is on. Could be wrong). Use your eyes and nose(not a lighter). If it is something associated with the evap system, you may need to seek pro. help. Unless someone on this site can help you with some info. I didn't realize South Texas was in Hawaii?

:iagree:

If you don't find anything wrong with the lines I would say to have it checked out by a private mechanic. Around here private ones seem to be MUCH more reasonable than the dealer. It's just a matter of asking around for recommendations from friends to find a good one.
