Yea, I just bought mine with 163k. Some people cringe while others say that isnt bad. I bought mine at a dealer and unfortunately I didnt get any maint history aside from the timing belt sticker at 95k on the front engine cover.
I crossed my fingers when I crawled underneath to poke around and change gear oils. I started with the rear and was really dirty and black. I was somewhat concerned with this until I hit the front diff and t-case as they were pretty clean as well as the tranny.
I have been battling a warm start issue and have the t-body and ICV off as we speak awaiting new gaskets. Not sure if that was the problem, but both were carbon'd up pretty bad so I guess if anything it couldnt hurt.
216k is a lot of miles, but if the price is good and it seems to be well maint'd it may be worth looking into. I'm not sure what others think, but these trucks seem to be somewhat user friendly to work on.

That would be a good deal, if it were $2000 - $2,500.
Especially in today's market.
Back when the economy was great and prices were high, I bought my 95 T100 ( same engine as 4Runner ) with 213K miles on it for $4,000.
Offer 'em half, cash. If they balk, walk away and find a much lower miles truck for less.

My two cents..........
I purchased my T4R almost a year ago and could not be happier with it. 208K miles on the V6 at time of purchase, just changed my oil at 239K (Toyota filter ONLY and Castrol GTX oil every 4500 miles) and the oil draining out of the pan still had a hint of gold color to it. I was fortunate to have purchased from the original owner, so I had a fair amount of history available. Regardless, I chose to run through a full maintenance "clense" so I would have confidence in my new DD. Changed and/or flushed every fluid on board. New plugs/wires, fuel filter, pcv valve, air filter (K&N), cleaned intake manifold/ injectors/ throttle body/ and MAF meter. New timing belt, water pump, and drive belts. The only visible oil leak was the valve covers, so new gaskets went in. New front brake rotors and pads, turned rear drums and installed new shoes. E-brake cable was frozen so it got replaced and adjusted. She always ran the stock Michelins and fortunately these looked near new. A quick rotate and balance on my Hunter GSP 9700 at my work, and I was good to go! It was a good bit of time and Toyota parts across the board weren't cheap, but no doubt well worth it all. Now as I approach the QTR MIL mile mark, my T4R is solid, reliable and does a fantastic job of putting up with the daily hammering I give her! Check this for a project, no lifts or BFG KO's for me, I am currently laying out plans for my REAR MOUNT TURBO setup! I know I will get some "comments" about my ambitions, but this will happen and I will post it all as it unfolds.....Garrett T3 60-1, AEM FIC, RC 550's, Tial 44mm wastegate and BOV, Walbro 255 LPH Fuel pump, custom oil return pump, all 304 stainless and aluminum plumbing and unless something changes, NO intercooler. If this doesn't show you my friend my confidence level in my high milage T4R, nothing will!
