Possible reason for vibrations?

These are the changes Toyota made to some of the componets when they went from the old 4 speed auto (A343F) to the new 5 speed auto (A750F) on the LC/LX so we should have the same stronger parts connected to our 5 speeds since they are (A750F)- Anyone else have any information on this?

"The front and rear driveshafts were updated with stronger U-joints and larger tubes

Front 65.0 mm (2.6 in.) 54.0 mm (2.1 in.)
Rear 75.0 mm (3.0 in.) 65.0 mm (2.6 in.)
The differential gears were changed to a 4.1 ratio"

Based on these changes to new heavier componets with the "new" 5 speed auto that we have in the V8 4runner this could be why we are (in different degrees) experiencing these vibrations. The reason I think they are not feeling them on the LC/LX is that they have a different steering system which is more isolated from the steering wheel. Also when you look at the Lexus site and all of the fixes they have tried for this problem on the GX470 (which is the same vehicle as our V8 4runner) you will see that they have done some work on isolating the steering componets that has had some good results on eliminating this vibration/harmonic. I don't think this is a driveshaft problem, I think it is a harmonics problem that is in the design of the GX470/V8 4runner. The only fix will be some type of dampener that will isolate the harmonic.

What are your thoughts?

Pitbull i agree with you on that one My 4runner does it very little. I have also changed all my fluids to synthetics. that seemed to help.
 
I agree as well. I feel it is an inherant flaw in the truck. I will press on. Although my brother wants to buy my 4runner. I need to figure up a price for him.
 
the 4runner/gx and the lx/lc/tundra(05)/sequoia(05) has the same tranny (5a/t) but we have a different front differential (size and everything). this still could be the reason as well.

you do bring up a point about the steering as our steering is now located in front whereas the older gen are located behind the axle so this might be it too.

it can quite possibly be the steering but the having the steering in the front is a much better design...

not sure exactly where the problem lies though... just food for thought.
