Hello all, i know that there has been some talk about dropping in a new aftermarket sub to replace the jbl stock sub in the 10 speaker jbl synthesis, but i have not really seen or heard of any good reccommendations, other than the eD 9kv.2 in a previous post/install.
In my opinion (which is not very different from others) the jbl synthesis is lacking in the bass department. I got the 04 SE used about a month ago and love it very much so far (other than the crappy stock sub). Being new to car audio and not knowing very much i thought it would be a good idea to gain some insight and opinions on this subject at hand.
I know that for right now i want to keep the audio pretty much stock other than replacing the sub. (in the future i might switch out the stock door speakers). My real question would be--what are some good quality/good sounding subs that i could put in the exsisting rear sub compartment. ( i realize that some slight modification to the space might be neccessary to fit an aftermarket sub and i am okay with this).
I have looked at the elemental designs SQ10 and i am pretty sure that would clear the depth, just not sure about the diameter. has anyone ever heard one of these subs in action or seen it in this type of application?? what other subs would work/fit with the exsisting amp (clarion, pioneer, jl)?? is this a silly way to add some better, more powerful bass, to my 4runner?? How would i wire the new sub into the amp?? I think from reading previous posts that i need a DVC sub for the amp, is this correct?? if you do think of a couple subs that would work, what do you think is the best?? I would appreciate all the insight that could be given. Thanks a lot.
