Possible transmission problem?

I've noticed this a few times, but it is not very frequent, maybe a couple of times per year? I came to a stop at a red light, and while sitting there, foot on the brake in drive, the truck bumps forward, kind of like someone just rear-ended me. First thought is look in the mirror, but the car behind me is a few feet back, so I know I didn't get hit.

Anyone have any thoughts on what this could be?

Very common known issue with this vehicle. Buy a grease gun a some good grease and hit all the zerk fittings on the driveshaft, especially the slip yoke. This wont ever permanently fix the problem but will put it at bay for 10k mi or so.

It sounds to me like your shoes are sticking to your drums. They heat up as you come to a stop then "lock" into place. Then they unpop as you loosen up on the brakes and the engine pulls on the wheels.
This could be caused by worn brake parts, axle oil leaking into the drum, and/or the e-brake lever(on the back of the drum) being stuck.

I purchased an '08 about 3 weeks ago now, it was doing this exact same thing - greasing the driveshaft fixed the problem.
