A green 4runner was recently left in my works parking lot with license plate RTG 242. The registration was left in it so I know the person's name and address but I can't find any info of it online.

It was left with the doors unlocked (we locked them) and the keys in the ignition. After it sitting there about a week (cars are often left there for days) someone mentioned that part of the exhaust was cut off. I noticed it is the part with the cat converter. I assumed someone stole the truck, chopped off the cat converter to make some money, and left it hoping someone else would take it.

A cop ran the plates but nothing came up, but this is too wierd not to think something is wrong. The reason I came here is that it had a T4R.org sticker on the rear glass, and being a car enthusiast I know a forum of enthusiasts is almost the best way to go for help.

The car is registered for a DeRidder, La address and was left near Lafayette, La. It looks lifted a few inches, paint not so great.

The boss is about to call a tow truck to get it out of our parking lot (its been almost 2 weeks now) but I figured I would try here and hopefully someone would be able to help. I know I wouldn't want my car to get put in a junkyard and have to pay hundreds to get it out once I found it (if at all).

Cliffnotes: Green 4runner found, plates RTG 242
Registered under a Mr. Riley, DeRidder LA
Found near Lafayette, LA
T4R.org decal on rear glass, cat converter missing.

Please message me with any info, I didn't give first name or address on registration so I can verify if it is the owner. I believe that is all...

I think the theif might've swapped the 4R's plate with another set of stolen plate, thus no info when the officer ran the plates.

Thank you for posting the information here. Hopefully the owner and member will see the post and potentially save him/her a few hundred in towing and storage fees.

That really sucks!

I hope that the owner sees this and gets his/her truck back, especially since they are a member of this site.

If it had a T4R.Org sticker, IMO that member might already have sold it, because if it happen to someone with average internet knowledge, he would have posted it in forums or here where he is a member ??

bump..

Let the authorities tow it as an abondoned vehicle. Then, an investigation will persue using the VIN.
Since it has been missing at least two weeks, odds are an insurance company now holds the title now anyway. Unfortunately, I know this because I had a vehicle stolen. Your intentions are well appreciated though.

What a vulture! :rockthrow:

:jk: (needed a reason to use some smillies.)

The OP is trying to save it, not kill it.

:) The sad part about what I said earlier is that I was only half joking. Good thinking on the OP to post here. I might have thought of that after checking for parts that might be "compatible". In Harlem it's easier to spot an abandoned vehicle because they torch them to a blackened, crispy frame :thumb3:
