post water crossing squealing noise

sometimes when i make a water crossing (creeks, big puddles), when i get out, there is a loud squeaking noise coming from what sounds like my brakes. it varies in loudness with my speed. Ive found the solution is to floor it for 100 feet or so, and then it goes away. any ideas of what it could be?

It could be your fan belts getting wet, then they will slip and make a squealing sound, after you've driven a couple 100 feet they may have dried off. But that doesn't explain why it sounds like it's coming from the brakes...
