Picked up a 1999 SR5 4WD locally with 160000 miles a few months ago and wanted to keep track of any modifications in a thread in case it helps anyone.
How it looked when I bought it
Ditched the hood deflector because it was cracked and missing a mount.
Washed & waxed!
I spent a few weekends building a storage/sleeping platform for the back. My goals were storage for surfboards underneath, 6'6" clearance lengthwise, and hatches to access the lower storage. I'm not entirely satisfied with the design yet but overall it came out pretty well. I'd be happy to provide more detailed info or measurements if people are interested, but for now here are just a few photos of the process.
In operation
And, most recently, new tires! 265/75R16 Toyo Open Countrys after much research.
Going to replace the shocks and springs next, and planning to stick with OEM stuff. I had a lifted Tacoma for awhile and don't want to deal with all the changes in geometry again, at least not yet. Thanks for reading! More to come.
