Alternator Rebuild

Rebuilt my old OEM alternator over the weekend. Not sure if I've seen a video on this on here, but there are several on YouTube that are pretty good. Here's how I did mine based on this post Rebuild Alternator (W/ Pics)

Brake Bleeding

Compiling more stuff on the videos. This last weekend I did a brake bleed after pulling the rear brakes off to clean up gear oil off of them (rear axle seal, bearing, etc. video coming soon). This is how I do it when I'm by myself:

here is a quick and dirty trick you may or may not be interested in:

when i bought my 3rd gen stock, i knew i was going to mod it so i started looking at mods before i even bought a 3rd gen (i knew that is what i wanted). there was no way in hell i was going to remember all of this stuff or the jargon associated with it to search and find these items easily via google.

so what i did was i drafted an email and titled it '4runner bible'. i sent the first link to myself and then every subsequent reply has a link or two in it with a description. im using gmail, so it gets pushed on the bottom of the list. you can either just remember the title of the email to search for it, or file away under a certain folder. has worked great for me so far!

That's a good method. I've got a Google sheet with links, pricing details, and mods completed/to-be-completed list. I'm an organization freak, what can I say.

While getting the rear seals replaced, I had to take apart the rear brakes to get them cleaned up. Put on a new hardware kit from Dorman and took a video of the process. One thing I did think of while editing; if you're doing this on the vehicle, you'll need to put the hold down springs on as the very first thing.

Had to do the rear axle seals and bearings recently. I put together a video showing how I got it done. It's more if a complement to [MENTION=120071]mtbtim[/MENTION] and [MENTION=102606]infamousRNR[/MENTION]'s excellent video, though I did go into a pretty good amount of detail.

Spiker Engineering Hood Struts Install

Got a set of hood struts from [MENTION=198376]4Runner4Leon[/MENTION] at Spiker Engineering back in January and just now got around to getting them installed. Excellent quality and great instructions when you read them :brick:

Been a lot of discussion over here (Harbor Freight Recall....danger) on the Harbor Freight Jack Stand recall lately, so I thought I'd take a look at the two models of the 6-ton stands that I have. One of them is a recalled model and one of them is a newer model that was not recalled. Thought the findings were pretty interesting.

Did some routine maintenance on the driveshafts to keep the clunks away. Had been getting a slight clunk and realized I hadn't greases the driveshafts the last time I changed the oil. Decided to take them off the truck and do a video of how to properly grease the slip joints where the clunks typically arise from. Hope this may help some!

Added a rear facing camera to the truck last weekend. Thought I'd show how I wired it into the back so in the event someone else wanted to do this, they wouldn't have to reinvent the wheel. The least fun part about doing this is getting the rear all torn apart so you can run the wire hidden within the pillar in the back.

Been a while, but since the last post I've been working on a video for the installation of these.

Also, working on a video on replacing the front wheel bearings. Lot's of little projects to come too, like cleaning of the wiring under the dash and adding a watertight fuse/relay box.
