Potential problem (CV maybe)

So i was under my truck this morning and i noticed this a bunch of gunk on a bolt that looks like maybe its coming from the CV. Its also appears to be splattered around as well that makes me assume its coming from something that spins.

Is this something i need to worry about?

Nope that's just car cum. It does that when it's happy.

I had a very similar appearance when my CV boot started tearing. Check the boot and the clamp on the boot to make sure it's secure.

So the consensus is, not a huge deal and my cv boots my have a small tear in them? I did drive around lifted for a while before I decided to drop the diff.

How big of a PITA is replacing the boots?

Use some big house clamps. Took me 15 minutes to fix mine. And a replacement axle is $60. So I wouldn't waste my time with a boot.

If you like to get messy, this is a job for you. Many gloves and a boot kit are in order.

What we need to know is if you wheel much off road. If you do, then reboot the stock CVs. If not, go to NAPA, Oreilys and get a new one with a lifetime replacement.

If you need help with removing and installing the CV, just ask.
