Powder Coat Rims

I have 16x7 Toyota rims and I was thinking of powder coating them. Called around and got a price of $60 a rim. Is that a good price and are they durable? And one last question, got any pics?

around my town its like 100 a wheel. but i have no idea on anything else. its all over the forum. use the search bar and im sure you'll find a billion pictures and reviews on it.

@$60 a wheel for 16x7, It's not gonna get any cheaper than that for PC. Unless you have some special hook up.

I guess i got a pretty good deal. Found a guy on craigs who blasted and pc'd all four for $150. It was deff a backyard operation, no shop or storefront so low overhead, you might want to check your local craigs services section.

I would say yes, if it included they doing the prep. sand blasting.

but you have to remember there might get some scratches if you off road. paint is easier to touch up. but to each there own.

$220-240 for sand blasting and powder are going rates in northern outskirts of Seattle. Seattle itself costs around $400. 4runner wheels need minimal blasting since they're not painted and just have a clear coat, so it should be on the cheaper end of the scale. The powder coated finish is much more resilient than painted wheels and hold up through winters for me assuming inkeep them relatively salt free and rinsed off. My TL 18x8's are powder coated gun metal and they're holding up well after 2 years. Only problem is that if you bend one, getting one wheel powdercoated cost $150 alone because of initial setup fees which happened to me...

Here's a quick pic of my recently powder coated rims. I have Goodyear Duratrac's mounted on them and I think they look fantastic. I agree that anything less than $100 per wheel is a good deal. I worked a swap for some other Toyota 5 star rims that I sent to powder coat, while selling my originals... however when all was said and done, mine broke out to around $70 per rim. Best of luck!

Thanks K.C. It's a looooong story on how I came to buy my 4Runner (got it for $3,500), but that's for another thread. ;-)

Dumb question here... but is the center plastic piece something you can buy black or how did you get it black too?

You can have the center cap powder coated black as well.

Correct me if I'm wrong but they are plastic and would melt in the powder coating process. Most people spray paint them.

I just got some LC rims and plan on powder coating them. I was torn between my 5 stars and these but I can fit a bigger tire on them without spacers on the LC's.

But... now I'm considering just spray painting them. It's lighter on my wallet which is shrinking thanks to this wonderful site!
