Powder coating OEM wheels

How durable is aftermarket powder coating on OEM wheels?

I think I prefer bronze/copper the best although gunmetal is a close second. My concern with gunmetal is that it will be hard to match the mag gray and flat black and tire rubber all at once so it may clash poorly.

Powdercoating is very durable... much more than just painting. I'm not sure about bronze though. I like bronze on black, red, white, etc, but I think it clashes with gray. Flat black would look badass. I have flat black OEM wheels on my GTI for my winter tires, and it looks great so long as it isn't completely dirty.

I'm going to try to get some FJ Cruiser wheels or an add'l set of SR5 OEM wheels and have them painted the color of the IS-F wheels. That polished dark gray looks great w/ the blizzard pearl.

I think the center caps are plastic. I'm not sure how well they will hold powdercoated paint.

how much does it roughly cost to powder-coat all four OEM wheels (for those of you that might know) if i wanted them powdercoated black?

Yes, you would have to paint the center caps. You can't powdercoat plastic as powdercoating involves baking them in a oven and it has to conduct electricity .Get a plastic specific paint like Krylon Fusion for painting plastic.

Did you get any quotes or check prices for powdercoating?

I went to a couple places as I was thinking about having mine powdercoated satin black.Cheapest I found was $400 and then you have to have your tires dimounted, mounted and balanced.Another $100+ bucks and have to bum rides when they are at the powdercoaters.

I checked on the Moto Metal mo957's in flat black and they were on sale for$560 shipped.I'm realy diggin those wheels the more I see them.

I'd go bronze as I like the JDM look of the Volk and 5zigen rims. Wish I had a gray or black runner as that would've been my first mod. to be honest with your color you can't go wrong but I like the bronze.

If you go the paint route, make sure you clear coat it. My painted winter wheels aren't holding up well to the salt.

Where are you finding the Moto Metal Matte Black's on sale for $560 shipped? 17 x 9?

I don't know were you are located but, I got my wife's wheels powder coated black for $50 a wheel, that was in Southern Indiana though.

4Funnr, i think it would look BAD@$$ to have flat black wheels with your ext color. This is what I plan to do when I get my new T4R in mag gray.

just my 2 cents...
