Power antenna questions

No, this isn't another taco whip thread so don't recommend I install one.

My power antenna snapped almost 7 years ago now and I want to change it. I bought the part from ebay years ago as well, I just never took the time to install it.

Now my questions:

1. How do you remove the fender liner to get to the motor? I removed the SR5 flares and all I saw where the holes they bolt into. Are there maybe some plugs under the hood like the ones used to get to the oil filter that push out?

2. I am also going to clean the inside of it since there is probably little plastic bits in there. What grease should I use to put it back together?

Thanks.

their are several 10mm headed bolts, a fe should have come off to remove the wheel well trim, where those bolts go, their are plastic push clip. the back side of the push clips that you can not see are squares that hav lips to hold them in place in the fender itself. you will either need to brake them or get a get hook pic that you insert into the screw hole to pull the lips inward which allows you to pull them out letting you remove the fender liner

when i did mine i went to the dealer and got a handful of those plastic nuts. They told me they usually destroy them when they do the job to save time. It was less than $10 for all of them plus a few spares.

I pulled about 1/4 of the plastic piece that had snapped out of the motor. You'll want to turn your wheel to one side in order to get a good look at everything. I was able to re-use my plastic trim pieces becuase I was very careful when I took them out. I used an OEM 'tenna and it's been working fine for years. Have not heard the same for aftermarket. I think there was a plastic cover taped to the motor and I used blue painters tape to button it all back up.
