power issues

guys,

I replaced my water pump and timing belt this past weekend, and now i am having power issues and i am guzzling gas and to get my 4runner idling correctly i had to turn my distributor almost all the way up. Any ideas of what to do now, i am sure it is a timing issue, but do y'all have tips or trick of how to get this done.

89 4runner 3.0 EFI manual 5 speed.

Yes from what my research and other people have told me, this is the problem.
Any advice??

Take it out, rotate it a tooth carefully, install it again, and set the timing.
