Power lead bundled with antenna leads??

Okay, so I've search and read several posts on this, but can someone tell me for sure if the electrical connector that is bundled with the dual antenna lead plug (one larger and one small) is supposed to get 12V switched power?

What exactly is this purpose of this connector? Some guys say it is for some sort of inline antenna amplifier. Is that correct? If so, it is only used for one or both of the small and large antenna leads? The diversity system is BOTH antennas together, correct? Now that I have an aftermarket headunit, I can only use the larger antenna connector, but I want to ensure that I have the best reception possible.

when u use the wire harness, that blue antenna lead of the harness right, and u connect that back to the facotory harness, the head unit have enough power to power it, dont disconnect the antenna white connector kuss its connected to the antenna lead off the harness, i knoe kuss i rip the tape off and traced it in the audio shop too, the connector sends power to the car antenna amp, so its like a remote for it thats all.

My antenna lead is not blue and the power connector is not white, it's black. Are we talking about the same thing?

the antenna lead off the deck is blue white wire, and wen u have the harness, it connects to the black wire with the white connector in that bundle of wires for that antenna, the small and big one and then that white connector, if u trace that white connector thats in the car, it goes to the main car harness and if u see where the wire is connected to, it should be the blue white wire off ur stereo harness. i drive a 07 sport v8 4x4 and i used the metra harness, i didnt have not jbl or nav in it.

I don't have the same wires as you for some reason. I don't even have a white connector for the antenna...mine is a black connector with a black wire.

So does anyone know if that small connector is supposed to get 12V power to it? And why? What is at the other end? Is it some sort of antenna amplifier?
