Power lock question

Hi,

I had a question about the power lock system on a 1990 4runner. The locks were not working when I bought the truck (last week) and I searched the forums with no luck. I saw someone else with the same problem, but with no solution. I could hear the relay clicking but no lock movement. I found the "door control" unit by the fuse panel and took it apart. I found one of the components slightly damaged (melted). I will source another from the wreckers, but my question is, on the newer models with keyless entry, is it just a different box? With the same connector as mine? I realize the chances are slim, but thought I'd ask anyway and see if this was possibly a way of adding factory keyless to a 2nd gen runner.

BTW the part no. of the door control is MR 331-N1 0B4

A follow up on my lock problem. I found another "door control" box and swapped with mine. I still have the same problem of hearing a click, but no lock operation. Could it be that all of the assemblies at the door are stuck? Or does it just take one? Has nobody else had this problem before?
