Power lock switch not unlocking

Hello everyone!

I've got a 2002 4Runner SR5 with an issue I need help with. I've been searching and trying for months now to no avail.

My key fob works fine. When I unlock using the key in the door handle, it works like it should. When I try to use the switches on the armrests (both driver and passenger side), I can lock but not unlock. Any fresh ideas?

Thanks!

It's both switches driver and passenger side. Besides, I wanted to see if others were having the same issues before I start buying parts and replacing. Money is an issue with a baby due here in a couple weeks! Thanks for the suggestion. I'll test the switch and post results. Any other ideas?

Other than checking the fuses or tracing the wires for a short, can't help anymore. I have an issue where when the T4R sits in the blazing sun the key fob won't lock the driver's door but the interior switch works. Its weird because it still arms the alarm. Doesn't do it all the time, just sometimes. Sorry I can't help more.

My locks have always been posessed. It used to just sit and lock/unlock for 2-3 minutes at a time when I was trying to get out of the thing! That is the only issue I've ever had, so I'm doing alright I guess.

One last suggestion, have you disconnected the battery and let it sit for a few minutes. I had an alarm issue and had to do that. It fixed my problem and since doing the elbow delete mod on the airbox I am getting a little better MPG's (a little over 18-mixed driving conditions). I guess it reset how the computer controls the air/fuel mix. Seems to have a little better bottom end torque as well. I know that has nothing to do with my locks/alarm but thought I would throw that in. In troubleshooting it helps to do one thing at a time.

I'll try that tonight. I've read a few other posts mentioning fuse pulling for a few days. I think I'll try the battery method first. Thanks again!
