Hello all and thanks for the forum, hopefully somebody can help.
I have a 1990 4-Runner (I am the original owner, 120k miles, and I love this vehicle). Today when I got to work, the power door locks would not open. I was able, just barely, to unlock the driver door manually and get out. First I checked the fuse, but it was fine (power windows on the same fuse continue to function). Also, when I push the lock button, I can hear the relay clicking. Well, since I opened the door, I have not been able to manually lock or unlock the doors. Not knowing what was going on, I took it to my Toyota Dealer and had them do some diagnostics. The fuse is good, and the relay checks out fine. They say the actuators in all four doors have fried, and that's why I cannot manually lock/unlock the doors. While I understand all of this, what I cannot understand is how all four actuators could have fried at the same time if the relay and fuse are working properly. I am going to have to replace the actuators if I want to be able to lock/unlock the doors, but my fear is that whatever caused this event will happen again and fry the new set (and they are expensive). Any thoughts anyone? Anything being missed here? I appreciate any help you all can provide.
