Power Outlet/Cig Lighter Blowing fuses.

Every time I engage the cigarette lighter I blow the fuse shared with the CD/Radio. Do I have something mixed up?

By the way, it's an aftermarket replacement.

did you try different devices, phone chargers ect?


does the fuse blow with no device connected?


Also, I recommend you throw some tape around the exposed areas.

Thanks Brian. No, I've only tried the cigarette lighter. I will try GPS (the only other device I use) and tape around the connections.

You didnt swap the ground and power did you? And x2 on electrical tape or shrink wrap tubing.

Is it an actual cigarette lighter coil that you're heating up? That sucker will draw between 10-20 Amps. That is not what that factory circuit was intended for! You should run a new fused circuit from the battery to run that.

Nope, White/Black is the ground. But x3 on the insulation.
