Power Seats

Hey guys. I just got a brand new 08' SR5 and I got a great deal on it, but my only complaint is that it doesn't have power seats. How big of a deal is it to add power seats? If its possible, how much would it cost? And where could I get them? If its easier to get power leather seats, I was planning on upgrading to leather at some time so I'm definitely up for power leather as well.

You can probably get them off a wrecked Limited or newer Sport Editions. I think the cost would be pretty high brand new. If you're doing leather aftermarket, check with the upholstery shop. They might have other sources.

Aside from looking for a wrecked 4th gen you could look for seats from another type of vehicle. They may require some fabricating to fit but not a huge deal usually. A friend of mine has Volvo buckets in his 03 Tundra, they are much more comfortable than stock and look like they came with the truck.

If the 4th gens have airbags in the seats I guess you'd need to stay stock for safety reasons.

Side airbags, which are part of the seat back, became standard in 2008. That's something to consider, as your replacement seats will need to have compatible bags and wiring harnesses.

Alright. Thanks for all your input. I was unaware about the airbags, so thats definitely something for me to remember as i search. I'm going to contact a dealership that I know the owner of and see what kind of deal they can make me. How hard would it be to add a the airbags and wiring harness to the seats from a wrecked 4th Gen?
