Power Steering Pump Issue in 3.0L '95

I've been having some intermittent "squeeking" lately under the hood. I assumed the water pump was going until this morning I popped the hood and listened a little closer.
All of the belts and pulleys were solid as a rock except my power steering pulley was shaking and shimmying around. The previous owner had just replaced the P.S.pump with a rebuilt unit in October, so I figured I would re-tension the belt and that might solve the problem. After loosening the adjustment bolt and taking tension off the belt I noticed that the pulley had about a 1/4" (5mm) travel perpendicular to the pump, I made sure that the pulley retention bolt was tight, it was, it appears that the pulley shaft's connection to the pump internals is loose and the shaft and pulley were shimmying together. I re-tensioned the belt and the squeeking persists and the pulley continues to shimmy.....

Time for a new power steering pump? Or is there any way to tighten up the shaft within the pump?

I believe it is time for a new pump. If im understanding you right, the shaft bearing is just about out. Soon enough it will destroy its self. Even though the shaft has play the pulley could still be bent. Causing the premature wear. I would turn it by hand and see if i can see any pulley deflection. If so you might want to replace both the pulley and pump.

I am stuck removing this hose. Its the power steering pump line that goes to the steering box. There is a union that I can not get apart.
