Power steering pump replacement

So a buddy who is not mechanically inclined has asked me to help him replace his PS pump. I can't find a write up.
I only really have a couple questions.
1. Does the system have to be completely drained?
2. Do you have to bleed the system when complete or do you just fill it and let the bubbles work themselves out?

Thanks in advance. And I'll do a write up when I do it.

Do you have the FSM? Section SR-31 has a somewhat of a how-to on dis-assembly and reinstall of the PS pump.

Exactly. You don't need to flush or drain completely to swap the pump, but I would do a full flush on the old pump to be sure I was starting my new pump on 100% clean fluid.
