Power Steering whine

Getting it when I started the truck a few mornings in a row... starts out sorta loud, turning wheels in driveway (stationary) makes the sound fluctuate. Sound goes away after 1-2 minutes... Power Steering fluid looks normal and full.... no noticeable leaks.... Started it yesterday, no sounds... Hmmm..... Was a bit colder the days it made the noise.... Ideas?

I had this problem with our 99 , ended up with a new pump from car quest.
1st try cleaning filter/screen that's in pump resivoir,remove metal tank and wash
Out with brake clean then flush power steering out with new fluid,there are a few

mine has done this before also. I just do a PS fluid flush, and all is good.

I think the fluid just wears out over time, and doesn't work as well when it gets really cold.

Mine has bred whining for awhile. Tried cleaning filter flushed a few times some stope whine junk. even did a rebuild kit on it with all new seals.

Ended up just buying a brand new pump

If its right after startup, cold out and goes away in a few minutes its kind of normal for an older pump. Mine has been doing it for over 60k miles. Its not a big deal.
