So for the last year or so my rear right window has been kind of touch-and-go. The switch on the master controls was always kind of sticky, like there was a spring missing to pull it back to the middle position. Once in a while I would forget and it would say in the up position for a while, and the motor would obviously overheat and not roll down for a good 10 minutes or so.
I let someone else drive the 4Runner (always a bad decision) and I think he really jacked the switch up. It was totally stuck in the up position and kind of sideways, as if it had been pulled out with plyers. I finally jam it to the down position and it snaps off! ARG! At this point, the window cannot be controlled at the master switch, and can only be rolled down from the door's switch (but not up!). The window has been half down for a few days, and I finally decided to rip it apart. I took all the door trim off and removed the power window regulator. I did some troubleshooting with the left rear switch so it isn't the door's switch; either the master control is bugged out or the motor is shot (hopefully not the latter). So it's time to go to the pick-n-pull to find a new master controller and see if that is the problem as opposed to the motor.
My only concern is this: How can the motor be shot if it can still roll down at full speed? After I took the motor out, I connected it seperate from the window (to see if maybe the weight of the glass was stalling it's movement) and it still only went down. Can it be broken in only one direction, or by the grace of god is the master controller preventing it from going up?
